How to Get More Twitter Followers?
Ever wonder how to get more twitter followers?
Twitter is a social networking and microblogging service that is created by Jack Dorsey. It allows its members to send and read other member’s messages called tweets. Sometimes, it is described as the “SMS of the Internet”. Tweets are 140-character text-based posts on the author’s profile page. It can be visible publicly, which is the default setting, or an author can set the message delivery to his or her followers only.
So you have been tweeting lately and following the tweets of well-known personalities such as Oprah and Demi Moore. And you came to notice that you have been following thousands of people while you haven’t been followed back by most of them.
Why would you want to have more twitter followers? Twitter can be a broadcast platform to drive traffic to your own website.
Here are some tips to get more followers at twitter.
1. Put #hashtags on your tweets. According to pbworlk.com, hashtags are a community-driven convention for adding additional context and metadata to your tweets. You create a hashtag simply by prefixing a word with a hash symbol: #hashtag.
2. Publish your twitter account anywhere. If you have other social media accounts like Facebook, Friendfeed, Multiply, Friendster, or your website or blogs, post it on your page. Use it as your shout out. This is one of the best ways to broadcast your twitter account.
3. Tweet and tweet more often. Tweet relevant topics that catches attention.
4. Retweet. Republish other interesting tweets from the persons you are following. If this interests you, this might interest your followers, too.
5. Tweet at peak times. Try to be online when people from the United States are awake.
6. Take some pictures and publish them. Pictures are known to be one of twitter’s heavily retweeted or spread topics.
7. Follow top twitter users and see what and how they tweet.
8. Mass following twitter users also known as the favorite methodology of ‘Spammers’. Continually following other twitter followers increases the chances of them following you back. Follow mostly the followers of your twitter friends.
A perfect example of this method is Osen Komura. A fake profile set up by some Twitter user to be used as a social experiment last February 2008. The Osen account followed 41,798 Twitter users in a month and in return 7,847 users followed her, a 17%+ follow-back rate.
9. After mass following, wait for a week or so and mass unfollow those who haven’t followed you back. There is no use in following them unless their tweets interest you.
Remember, these tips might not apply to get more twitter followers for your account. All in all, it still depend on your goals and how you would use your Twitter account.
